The following message is from Norfolk State University Interim President and CEO Eddie N. Moore Jr.:
“I am pleased to provide you with a brief update on the SACSCOC Special Committee visit to Norfolk State University, which began on October 13 and concluded today, October 15. Overall, the Committee was able to successfully confirm the contents of our Second Monitoring Report that was submitted to SACSCOC in September and the team had a very positive experience on campus. The fundamental outcome of the Committee’s assessment was that there were no recommendations for Norfolk State University based on their review. This is absolutely the best possible outcome and I am very pleased with this assessment.
As for next steps, the Special Committee will finalize its report and provide a copy to us to correct factual errors (if any) and provide a response by November 13. Thereafter, the Special Committee’s report and NSU’s Second Monitoring Report will be submitted to the SACSCOC Committees on Compliance and Reports for additional reviews. In December, the SACSCOC Board of Trustees will make its final determination and vote on NSU’s accreditation status.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our Board of Visitors for its unwavering support and collaborative participation in this process. I am also very grateful for the steadfast support and diligence of the teams assigned to this effort, the faculty and staff support, and of course—our 5,000-plus students for believing in Norfolk State University and the administration’s work on their behalf. We appreciate your dedication and support.
NSU is truly re-positioning itself for a brighter future and you can look forward to additional positive news on our progress.”
