| NSU Rector Thomas N. Chewning recently announced that the Board of Visitors finalized a two-year contract with Eddie N. Moore Jr. to appoint him as President of Norfolk State University. His appointment was effective January 10, 2016.
The announcement said in part, “Since the day President Moore arrived on campus, he has set the tone for continuous improvement and accountability that will ensure a brighter future for NSU. He has the board’s full confidence and support as he seeks ways to help students, faculty and staff succeed at Norfolk State. This includes the recently launched strategic planning process across the university.”
The BOV cited among President Moore’s accomplishments as Interim President the removal of the university from probation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). “His oversight and willingness to take the actions necessary to address the concerns raised by SACSCOC made a difference in the outcome,” said Chewning. “Our decision to appoint him confirms the Board’s confidence in his ability to lead NSU to the next level. We believe that President Moore will continue the positive momentum that has been generated since the beginning of his tenure at NSU in September 2013.”
