Annual Alumni Day
On Sat., February 13, the Office of Alumni Relations hosted more than 500 alumni at its annual Alumni Day activities. The day began with a brunch where the NSU Alumni Association recognized 65 new lifetime members. President and CEO Eddie N. Moore Jr. provided attendees with an update on campus progress. During halftime of the NSU vs. Morgan State men’s basketball game, the Alumni Association expressed its continued support by presenting a $10,000 check to President Moore.
MEAC Tournament Distinguished Alumni
Virginia natives William & Mozella Delk will be recognized as NSU’s 2016 MEAC Tournament Distinguished Alumni. The Delks graduated from the NSU’s School of Education in 1967 and 1968 respectively. In 2010, they established the William and Mozella Delk endowed scholarship students majoring in education. Mr. Delk, a former principal and Senior Director of Pupil Personnel for Norfolk Public Schools enjoyed a 37-year career in public education. Mrs. Delk retired as regional manager of Human Resource Services after a 35 year career with the Department of the Navy. In 2015, they were inducted into the Emerald Society of Norfolk State University in recognition of their generosity.
Chesapeake NSUAA Donates to Hospital Pediatric Ward
Members of the Chesapeake Chapter-NSUAA donated books and stuffed animals to the Pediatric Ward of Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. They were joined by NSU alumnus and Chesapeake City Mayor Allen Krasnoff ’07.
Richmond NSUAA Attend Delegate’s Swearing-In Ceremony
Members of the Richmond Chapter of the NSUAA visited Delegate Lamont Bagby ’99 after his swearing-in ceremony at the State Capital. Bagby was elected in November to represent the 74th District, which includes Charles City County, parts of Henrico County and the City of Richmond. He is a former member of the Henrico County School Board and the NSU Board of Visitors.
Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony
On the evening of May 6, Norfolk State University will honor three to five alumni as its 2016 Distinguished Alumni and Graduate of the Last Decade Awards recipients. This event is designed to celebrate and acknowledge the achievements of the alumni. It will also provide a networking opportunity for recipients, alumni, faculty, staff and community leaders.
