Last fall, 76 HBCUs began the Road to the Championship . . . getting geared up for the Honda Campus All-Star Challenge (HCASC), a national academic championship. In February 2016, 64 institutions faced off at the national qualifying tournaments. In April, Norfolk State was one of only 48 universities competing in Los Angeles for the 27th annual National Championship. Spartans everywhere should be very proud of this year’s team! The students and coaches spent countless hours preparing for the tournament, and proudly represented the institution. Honda enjoyed hosting the team, and getting to know NSU’s outstanding scholars.
Including this year’s grant, Norfolk State has earned $206,000 during its years of participation. The Honda Campus All-Star Challenge is much more than just an academic quiz championship. Through face-to-face competition and camaraderie among like-minded and very bright students, the competitors become friends for life, joining an elite group of HBCU students whose network of HCASC competitors become lifelong contacts.
