Norfolk State University opened its doors September 18, 1935. As part of the week recognizing its founding, the University inaugurated its sixth president, Eddie N. Moore Jr. (left), on Friday, September 16. Other activities during the weeklong celebration included a Founders Day Breakfast with award-winning journalist and TV One news host Roland S. Martin (right) as the guest speaker. A ceremonial walk to the Communications Tower was held where a bell rang out six times to mark President Moore’s inauguration.
On the lighter side, the NSU community took part in a green and gold fun run and walk (right) and enjoyed line dancing, food trucks, games and fireworks at the inaugural bash. The Founders celebration closed out with an inaugural gala, which was held in a transformed Echols Hall.
