Following a nationwide search, the Norfolk State University Board of Visitors selected Arutyun Aristakesian to serve as the new chief audit executive. As chief audit executive, Aristakesian directs the internal audit department, which provides independent appraisals and reviews of university functions. The chief audit executive operates under the direction of the audit committee of the Board of Visitors with administrative responsibility to the President.
Aristakesian joined the University effective January 1, 2017, and comes to NSU with more than 10 years of audit and management experience. Most recently, he held the position of vice president of Internal Audit at CITCO, an international hedge fund administrator. His previous experience includes serving as an audit manager at Columbia University. Aristakesian earned the MBA from West Chester University in Pennsylvania and holds both the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) designations.
