Shiloh Baptist Church, located across from the L. Douglas Wilder Performing Arts Center on Park Avenue, will promote community unity during its annual Community Service Day, Saturday, April 22, from 9 a.m.- noon. This will be a day to enrich the neighboring communities. Each year this vital ministry grows, with hundreds of visitors demonstrating its tremendous value to the Hampton Roads Community.
The event will include the Shiloh Baptist Church Food Pantry Ministry food give-away; a health fair, which will provide various screenings and healthier lifestyles information; representatives from various community service agencies; a nutritionist to provide information on making better food choices and Zumba exercises to help everyone shed some of those unwanted calories. Of special interest, will be the church’s “Free Market,” distributing free and slightly used household wares for those attending. A cookout will be held for sharing food with our neighbors. This ministry expresses Shiloh’s vision to be “A beacon of love serving people,” Dr. Keith I. Jones, Senior Pastor of Shiloh and NSU alumnus, says. “This is our chance to care for our community and to make a true impact on the lives of our neighbors.”
