WNSB 91.1 FM, Norfolk State University Radio, will conduct its spring on-air membership campaign “MemberFest 2017,” March 31–April 9. “We understand fully that our listeners count on us. Now we are counting on our listeners. Their financial support enables the radio station to stay on the air and gives WNSB the financial boost needed to grow, improve and be there for our loyal listeners twenty-four hours a day seven days a week,” said Edith Thorpe, general manager of WNSB 91.1 FM.
WNSB is in its 37th year of serving the community as a public radio station. “MemberFest 2017” is the second on-air membership drive. MemberFest 2016 was the first-ever drive conducted at the public radio station. WNSB signed on the air for the first time February 22, 1980, as a non-commercial radio station with an educational format. The station has since become one of the most-listened-to public radio stations with an urban format in Hampton Roads and the only public radio station with an urban alternative format in Virginia.
Since WNSB 91.1 FM is a public radio station, it relies upon the financial support of its listeners and program underwriters. Individual and corporate memberships at various levels are available and special incentives will be offered along with loads of public radio fun during “MemberFest 2017.” The five-day silent campaign and five-day live campaign is sure to be informative and packed with lots of the unique programming you have come to love about WNSB. Each day during the campaign, the station will feature artists, bands and special music – all for our listening audience. Stay tuned to hear who the featured artists will be!
