NSU named a 2018 Best College

College Raptor, the college planning website that helps families discover colleges based on personalized estimates of actual college costs, has featured Norfolk State as a 2018 Best College in the U.S. in an announcement published recently. Norfolk State University earned top honors and was ranked:

#20 in Top 25 Best HBCUs

This selection recognizes Norfolk State as one of the best colleges in the country, based on a combination of factors, including graduation rates, campus diversity, endowment per student, and other key metrics as reported via the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) for the most recently available enrollment year. “These rankings are based on an analysis of a rich set of data. Considerations include the school’s student success rate, selectivity, academic rigor, and financial resources,” said Bill Staib, College Raptor’s CEO. “We assemble these rankings each year to empower prospective students and parents to find schools that fit with what they’re looking for—whether that’s a top-notch university or one of the nation’s best liberal arts schools.”

College Raptor’s Best College rankings began four years ago in an attempt to better represent an overall assessment of the health and quality of a college. To that end, College Raptor’s ranking comprises a number of specific factors that are then combined into a single weighted score, which determines a college’s overall rank. The full methodology is outlined here. “We highlight institutions like Norfolk State because they go beyond academic excellence and invest in an environment that provides the best educational outcomes for their students,” Staib continued.
